Tenuta Di Collosorbo Brunello [2012]
There are a few Montalcino wineries with as noble or as long a history as Collosorbo. The Ciacci family has been involved in winemaking in the Montalcino area since the late 1800's. A collection of mostly old neutral foudres allows the wines to evolve slowly in the family's cool cellar built by hand ages ago beneath the walls of the estate's ancient castle.
Deep ruby red colour with orange hues. On the nose, ripe plum scents with undergrowth, sunbaked earth, cured meat, menthol, toasted hints. Quite warm, full body, the the ripe palate is mature and offers dried black cherry, truffle, licorice, espresso and a catchy hint of game alongside firm & chewy tannins for a balanced finish.
