Elena Walch Merlot
Elena Walch, a former architect, became a wine producer in 1985 after marrying into one of the oldest established wine families in Tramin. She took over two magnificent estates: Castel Ringberg, and Kastelaz, a steep, south-facing hillside which towers above the village centre of Tramin. Not surprisingly, the latter is highly regarded for its white wine made from the Gewürztraminer grape which took its name from the village Tramin. Star Winery - Gambero Rosso (Indicates that the winery has won ten 3 Glass Awards by Gambero Rosso. They are the elite, the aristocracy, in short the very top flight of Italian wine.)
Fresh garnet red is the colour our Merlot Elena Walch wears. Intensive and clean in the nose, with fruity notes of wild berries, spicy notes and some chocolate. Firm tannins, meaty structure with opulence and elegance fill the palate where the wine convinces with softness and juiciness, with drinking pleasure and a pleasingly stimulating finish.
